Cinco Paul’s musical Schmigadoon! is the theater hit that keeps on hitting. With multiple Outer Critics Circle Awards wins under its belt and several 2026 Tony Award nominations, theater lovers are flocking to New York City’s Nederlander Theatre in droves to experience the production live.
Well, next year the musical will be coming to theater audiences across North America. According to Playbill, beginning in fall 2027, Schmigadoon! will kick off a national tour.
Although an official schedule has not yet been shared, Playbill says the first stop will be on September 27 at Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland. Other stops confirmed by Playbill include Chicago, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; and Washington, DC. Playbill teased that more cities will be added at a later date. This announcement comes on the heels of Schmigadoon! inking a licensing deal with Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
In a statement shared with Playbill, Schmigadoon!‘s Broadway producers discussed the national tour.
“Since we first set out to bring ‘Schmigadoon!’ to the stage, our goal has always been to create a production that could be enjoyed on Broadway and beyond,” said producers. “Christopher Gattelli and his incredible team of designers have built this show with craft and care in a way that will allow communities across all 50 states to experience the exact same joy, scale, and theatrical magic audiences are currently embracing on 41st Street.”
They continued, “We’re also thrilled to place the show in the hands of theatre groups nationwide through our licensing partnership with TRW, ensuring that Schmigadoon! can continue bringing people together through the joy of live theatre for decades to come.”
