This coming fall’s off-Broadway theater offering list has expanded. The latest production set to hit the stage features none other than industry veteran Christopher Fitzgerald.
According to Playbill, Fitzgerald has been tapped to star in Irish Rep’s revival of the one-man show The Good Thief, written by Tony Award nominee Conor McPherson. The forthcoming production, which is to be directed by Justin Waldman and presented in association with Two River Theater, will run from November 7 to December 13 at the W. Scott McLucas Studio Theatre.
The Good Thief follows a small-time Irish gangster. As the story pans out, the audience watches as the man comes face-to-face with the consequences of his brutal past.
The production’s full synopsis reads, “It all began with an incident…The Good Thief is a one-man play in the form of a confession. After a seemingly straightforward job spirals into betrayal and violence, a small-time Irish gangster is forced to face the consequences. In telling his sordid and riveting tales, he finally has the chance to reflect on his past and long for a future beyond brutality.”
The Good Thief originally premiered back in 1994, featuring David Mackett, and was directed by Rod Ceballos.
Scenic designer Wilson Chin, costume designer Jess Goldstein, lighting designer Jen Leno, and sound designer Drew Levy have signed onto Irish Rep’s revival of The Good Thief. The W. Scott McLucas Studio Theatre has confirmed that Shanna Allison will serve as the production stage manager.
