The upcoming theater season is going to be a treat for anyone lucky enough to snag tickets. There are a slew of productions extending their run, cast switch-ups, and exciting debuts on the horizon.
One of the most anticipated musicals heading to Broadway is none other than NAACP Award–nominated playwright, musical theatre bookwriter and lyricist, screenwriter, and poet Angelica Chéri’s Wanted: The Legend Of The Sisters Clarke (previously titled Gun & Powder).
On May 13, Billboard exclusively revealed that the Wanted cast has expanded. This fall, Grammy Award-winning singer Ledisi will step into the role of Tallulah Clarke when it debuts at the James Earl Jones Theatre.
In a statement shared with the outlet, Ledisi gushed about her forthcoming role.
“I am beyond thrilled to join the cast of ‘Wanted,'” said Ledisi. “My first Broadway principal role, and I still can’t believe it. I keep thinking about the journey, God’s timing, and the importance of legacy.”
She continued: “I’m grateful to Angelica Chéri, Ross Baum, Stevie Walker-Webb, and our producers for trusting me with the role of Tallulah, and to my family, friends, and team for giving me the courage to say ‘yes.’ I love being a recording artist, and that will never change. Theater has always been part of my vision as a storyteller. This isn’t a pivot… It’s another expansion of me. And I’m just getting started.”
Ledisi previously starred in Caroline, or Change (2004, Broadway), Hair (2004, Broadway), Witness Uganda (2019, Off-Broadway), and The Life (2021, Broadway). From May 21 to June 8, theatergoers can catch Ledisi in Ain’t Misbehavin’ at Ebony Repertory Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
Other confirmed Wanted cast members include Solea Pfeiffer (Hadestown, Gatsby: An American Myth) as Mary Clarke and Liisi LaFontaine (Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Dreamgirls) as Martha Clarke. The remaining Wanted crew includes director, Obie winner, and Tony nominee Stevie Walker-Webb; Ross Baum on music; and choreographer Chelsey Arce.
Previews for Wanted: The Legend Of The Sisters Clarke, which will be housed at the James Earl Jones Theatre located at 138 West 48th Street in New York, New York, are set to begin on October 15, 2026. The official Broadway opening for Wanted is set for November 8, 2026.
