Nearly every day a musician shocks fans with a tour announcement with little time before the presale begins. After which supporters begin to mentally prepare for the knockdown drag-out that is the ticket buying experience.
Apparently, Spotify took notice of concertgoers’ complaints and is ready to offer a solution. On May 21, the streaming platform announced its latest feature, Reserved.
Tailor-made for United States-based Spotify Premium subscribers, Spotify Reserved is essentially a fast pass to concert ticket purchasing. Premium users over 18 years old will have their listening data leveraged for advance access to concerts.
Based on where you fall on a recording artist’s dedicated listener ranking, you might be able to skip the line during a ticket sale.
“Spotify Reserved will identify an artist’s most dedicated fans and hold two tour tickets for them. […] Before tickets are on sale to the general public with no added fees,” reads the announcement.
According to the streaming platform, the factors to give you an edge up include streams, shares, and other activity on Spotify, which the company hopes will filter out bots.
Users dubbed “superfans” will receive non-transferable Spotify Reserved presale invitations to shows to show only in their registered market. View the full Spotify Reserved invitation process below, provided via Spotify.
- Eligible users will receive an email and an in-app notification.
- Up to two concert tickets on the tour will be available for you to purchase during a dedicated timeframe (about a day). Reserved offers are based on the tour’s locations, so if a tour isn’t coming to your area, you may not receive an offer.
- If you do receive a Reserved concert invitation, you can buy tickets for any show on the tour, and you’ll choose your date, location, and seats at checkout. You can then complete your purchase on a ticketing partner’s platform during that window.
