Yonkers, New York is a cultural hot spot in the hip-hop community. Many legendary solo acts and recording groups have called the city home, including icons Grammy Award-winning & Oscar nominee singer Mary J. Blige as well as LOX rappers Jadakiss, Styles P, Sheek Louch, and the late DMX.
The Y.O. is not done molding music stars and this is a cause recording professional Josh Dooz has taken on. As the founder, Stockroom Records and Creator of The Goodstock Show, Dooz combined his love for music and the connection his has with rising talent to create the annual open mic showcase, Goodstock.
On Friday, October 16, the 3rd annual Goodstock Championships is set to return to Yonkers Brewing Co. with even stiffer competition. Following a year worth of show downs against 50 acts, 19 remaining artists will duke it out for either the hip-hop/rap or open genre championship title.
In a statement shared with ENVERT, Dooz spoke about the importance of the Goodstock Championships.
“The artists are not performing into a vacuum,” said Dooz. “They are competing in front of people who have worked inside the music business, while the event is professionally filmed for ‘The Goodstock Show’ and supported by a live audience, local creatives and community partners.”
Judged on live performance, energy, confidence, crowd engagement, authenticity, musical pocket and stage presence, the two victors will receive professional footage of their performances, a cash prizes, one-on-one artist development feedback, and access to the growing Goodstock Championships alum network.
This year’s judging panel features fellow industry professionals Grammy Award-nominated producer Scram Jones (Eminem, Mariah Carey, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Jadakiss, Styles P and Dave East), Lil Dee, DJ Rocky Jamez, and Deemo Hyh.
The 2026 Goodstock Championships is set to take place on Friday, October 16, 2026. The event will be held inside of the Yonkers Brewing Co. beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Yonkers Brewing Co. is located at 92 Main Street in Yonkers, New York.
