Denise Julia is ready to embrace her international audience. After amassing millions of followers online, the “NVMD” singer was ready to anchor down her business dealings.
With several independent releases under her belt, on May 11, Denise Julia took to her official Instagram page to announce signing with EMPIRE.
“(Not so) secret’s out,” wrote Denise Julia. “[…] I’ve officially signed to a US label. Thank you, EMPIRE.”
She continued, “All those years of writing songs in my bedroom, recording until sunrise, believing in what I heard in my heart long before the world fully listened… it all led me here! Coming from Tondo, Philippines, I never imagined the little girl making music out of instinct and pure love would one day find herself here. No shortcuts, no easy path… no nepotism (lol), just years of choosing to create through every high and low.”
The deal marks a massive push from the label to support diverse international acts. This is a mission Denise Julia personally supports.
“Being one of the first and few homegrown Filipina artists signed to a major US label is proof that Filipino artistry deserves space on the global stage exactly as we are,” added Denise Julia. “Thank you, Ghazi, Nima Etminan, and the entire EMPIRE team for believing in me and in the future of Filipino artistry. This is only the beginning. WE JUST MADE HISTORY BABYYYY.”
Denise Julia went on to thank her fans and several other key figures in her professional life, including fellow Filipinos, Columbia Records Vice President John Vincent, and designer Kimberly Anne Mendoza-Salcedo, as well as 11 11 Management Founder & CEO, D’Anthony Bly.
Denise’s most recent releases, “Changes” and “2GOOD4U,” were put out jointly with 2nd Floor Entertainment Inc. and EMPIRE. Her latest body of work, 2024’s Sweet Nothings (Chapter 2), was distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Philippines Inc.
Denise Julia has not yet announced when supporters should expect her full-length debut with EMPIRE, but they are keeping their eyes peeled and ears open.
