The WNBA is back and more competitive than ever! But the players aren’t the only folks bringing the heat to each arena. Singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ Zyah Belle has things covered for Oregon basketball lovers.
On April 28, the organization’s media team announced its latest game experience team. The thrilling lineup includes Emmy and Telly Award-winning personality Tra’Renee (in-arena emcee), veteran media professional Jef Lucero (public address announcer), and multihyphenated entertainer Zyah Belle (in-arena DJ).
With an eclectic discography; lengthy list of past collaborators (Jane Handcock, Dende, Ben Reilly, Jordan Hawkins, and Tempest); and co-signs from sonic innovators (Rihanna, Jill Scott, Freddie Gibbs, and SiR), Zyah being named the Portland Fire’s first-ever in-arena DJ is divine alignment.
The “Automatic” singer took to Instagram to share the historic news with her supporters.
“Excited to be the first ever official in-arena DJ for @portlandfirewnba,” she wrote. “🔥 She’s a WNBA DJ 🥹🔥.”
Zyah teased her relationship with the Portland Fire late last year with a series of photos. So, the formal announcement of Zyah’s addition to the game experience team was met with a huge show of support online.
Back in January, Zyah reflected fondly on her DJing journey.
“DJing carried me through grief when I had no lyrics,” wrote Zyah on TikTok. “It brought me community I didn’t even know I needed. Almost 3 years in and I’m still learning, still growing. And I’m so blessed to be sharing this with y’all.”
