Disclosure has been a constently been a dominating force in electronic music. However, the English sibling duo, brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence, have not had that same stability when it comes to their label home.
If you examine Disclosure’s discography, you’ll quickly realize that many projects have been attributed to several different labels, including 2015’s Caracal (Deluxe) [Island Records/UMG], 2021’s Never Enough (self-released), and 2023’s Alchemy (Apollo Records/AWAL). Well, back on February 19, Guy revealed that they had founded a record label of their own, Friends & Family Records, inspired by their Friends & Family events.
“Yoooo everyone, soooo I’ve started a record label,” wrote Guy on the group’s official X (formerly Twitter) page. “I want the label to serve primarily as a platform for new, upcoming artists; the kind of thing I wish I had when I was starting out.”
Now, the label’s debut release is finally out. To kick off the duo’s run as label head is none other than rising electronic star V. Christie (Vebjørn Christie). Hailing from Norway, the DJ and record producer is a staple of the touring circuit, and with his new DREAM EP on Friends & Family, Christie is ready for a solo headlining run.
Guy hyped up the release on Instagram, writing: “Friends & Family Records is alive!!! So proud & happy for V to be our first artist on the label. We’re just getting started. ENJOY!!!!”
“Beyond stoked to be part of this journey,” wrote Christie in the comment section.
