Zolita Brings Fans Into The Carnal Cult Of ‘Hell’s Belles’ In Her Latest Music Video, And It Does Not Seem Half Bad

You can turn lemons into lemonade. But rising indie pop singer Zolita would much rather twist a traumatic instance into an intoxicating tune.

For her latest single, “Hell’s Belles,” Zolita teamed up with producer Evan Voytas to work through something from her past—life in a cult. On “Hell’s Belles,” Zolita wraps sass, sexuality, and shock in a charming cloak of country pop. In a paradoxical pool of blissful restraint, Zolita chronicles lust’s numbing cult-like grasp. Despite the harm that you can certainly hang your hat on, you just can’t help but allow yourself to be consumed by it.

Throughout the record, listeners are only ever gently comforted with Zolita’s past. So, for the track’s official music video, which was directed, written, produced, and edited by Zolita, she decided to dial things up to drill home the message.

On a mission to free the sexually liberated, Zolita (or Belle, as she goes by at the ranch) sets out on an undercover mission to take down a lady-lovers’ commune leader, Hell (played by Tatiana Ringsby). However, after coming in contact with Hell and the residents Peach (played by Georgia Bridgers), Tiffany (played by Kyra Green), Mary Jo (played by Becky Missal), Jessica (played by Lauren Payton), Kitty (played by Alyssa Eells), and Missie (played by Sierra Fujita), Zolita is eventually discovered and then flipped, leaving her allegiance to Detective Hans (played by Holger “Max” Hoetzel) behind.

Shot across a breathtaking ranch, Zolita’s mission backfires both in the cinematic visual and among viewers because if that is what cult living is like (peaceful living, fresh organic produce, and acres of harmonious lovers), sign me up.

In a statement shared with ENVERT, Zolita opened up about the inspiration behind the song.

“Written with my friend and artist Gatlin, this is the song that inspired the theme and sound of my next project,” said Zolita. “It’s a sapphic take on the ultimate bro country song, ‘Boys Round Here,’ and is an ode to all the southern bad girls I’ve fallen for over the years.”

Zolita continued: “The ‘Hell’s Belles’ video was inspired by the six years I spent inside a kundalini yoga cult. It’s my way of processing the experience through humor, fantasy, and pop spectacle.”

There’s more cult satire to come from Zolita. The singer confirmed that she would soon be releasing “a series of extended dialogue scenes and a mockumentary-style miniseries expanding on the cult’s world.”
