Over a decade ago, Greta Simone Kline, better known as Frankie Cosmos, burst onto the alternative scene. But after signing with Bayonet Records and releasing her sophomore album, Next Thing, Frankie Cosmos became a pillar within the genre.
Last month, Cosmos decided to invite fans to a trip down memory lane with two pop-up Next Thing anniversary shows. Well, it looks like the sold-out concerts held at Bowery Ballroom in New York City and Union Pool in Brooklyn have inspired Cosmos to take the show on the road.
Over on Instagram, Frankie Cosmos announced her official 10-year anniversary Next Thing Tour. Now, we know who will join Cosmos’ 6-date run on the road. The confirmed supporting acts of Cosmos’ 10-year anniversary Next Thing Tour are Grace Bloom, Gabby’s World, and Coral Grief.
But the celebration of Next Thing doesn’t stop there. For the first time since its release, in the United States fans can now own a copy of the RIAA-certified gold album on vinyl. In a statement shared with ENVERT, Cosmos reflected fondly on their breakout album.
“Listening back to ‘Next Thing’ is a swirl of emotions,” said Cosmos. “I remember friends, crushes, bands, love, heartbreak, and myself.”
Cosmos continued, “This is the first album I’d ever made with a 4-piece band. I can really hear the impact each of my then-bandmates had on the recordings. We played these songs a lot live before recording the album. I remember where I was when I wrote most of these songs: the confusion of being in my late teens and early twenties and the psychic pain of trying to figure out who I was and how to express myself while managing the visions other people had for me.”
