BLK ODYSSY is an act that has snatched the respect of his peers. While at the same time remaining a beloved niche independent act. Over the span of four projects, including 2024’s 1-800 Fantasy, the “Ghost Ride” musician’s ethos has become abundantly clear.
On his latest release, “Waves,” BLK ODYSSY ventures further down his captivatingly experimental path. Co-written with Mikky Ekko and co-produced alongside Bryan Yepes & Carlton McDowell, “Waves” marks the start of a new album cycle for BLK ODYSSY.
Over on TikTok, he teased his forthcoming body of work, writing: “I just finished making a concept album about a hidden radio frequency that posses the minds of its listeners and heals them of any sickness they have.”
As the first jolt of this mysterious project, “Waves” creates the pulse of what’s to come. BLK ODYSSY debut broadcast is a segment all about love’s gravitational pull.
“Wasting all your time you know it’s true / But you love it so I like it too / Now you’re asking, did I do voodoo / Baby, I just took my time with you / Cause I was trying to make you comfortable / Tell me is you down with mind control? / If I live in your thoughts and your mind / Your mind / Would you set me on a wave,” sings BLK ODYSSY.
With every BLK ODYSSY release two things are true. The out-of-the-box production will have you questioning instrumental knowledge as you try to identify what’s going, but it slips your tongue before you can identify anything. Next, you’ll find yourself rooted for a convoluted tale of lopsided love. “Waves” is no exception to the musician’s captivating formula.
