Here Is Everything We Know About Claud’s Album ‘Me and the Music’

Three years ago, Claud released their studio album, Supermodels. Since then the singer-songwriter has ducked into the background to help other acts explore their music curiosity. As a producer, Claud unlocked another layer to their self and storytelling overall.

Now, Claud is prepared to put all they’ve learned on their highly anticipated Supermodels follow-up. But the “I Owe You” singer won’t hand over more of the usual.

In a statement shared with ENVERT, Claud reflected on the what separates their forthcoming album, Me and the Music, from past releases like Supermodels.

“I was just sick of taking everything so seriously,” said Claud. “[Supermodels] was such a serious record, and I just sulked in feelings for so long. Such terrible things have happened in this country the last few years, but I’ve only grown closer to the people around me because of that.”

They continued, “The world has shown me that the worst can happen, but it might just bring you closer to your community. There’s a difference between being sincere with life and taking life too seriously.”

Supermodels (2023) and Super Monster (2021) were a byproduct of Claud’s tumultuous emotions brought forth form an unhealthy situationship. Me and the Music is where Claud sheds those romantic delusions to realization that in their words, the entanglement “really wasn’t ever anything.”

Me and the Music closes Claud’s chapter on living through and healing from a lopsided love.

According to the liner notes provided by the label, Me and the Music was produced solo by Claud and their longtime collaborator John Congleton.

This drastic trim to production credits was a result of a deeply personal conversation between Claud and Jack Antonoff.

“My last two albums have so many producers on them, but there’s still a throughline,” said Claud. “[After speaking with Jack], he told me, you are a producer. He said, ‘Producing is having ideas and curating a sound and telling people what you want,’ and I realized that I’ve been executive producing my last two records.”

Other credited Me and the Music collaborators include Shelly musicians, Noa Getzug and Josh Mehling as well as songwriters Dan Nigro, Hank Heaven, and Annie DiRusso.
