Riley! may be Pure Noise’s newest act, but they have already been compared and co-signed by rock veterans. This week, the trio vocalist & guitarist Ryan Bluhm, bassist Kris Gallardo, and drummer Cesar “Izzy” Izaguirre will back up their hype by way of the EP To Live And Die In The American South.
True to the project’s name, according to linear notes To Live And Die In The American South was recorded in Austin, Texas, alongside producer Phil Odom. The notes describe the body of work as
Riley!’s embrace of a “more finely harnessed sound without losing any of their edge.”
That can be proved by way of To Live And Die In The American South‘s lead singles “Another Round Of Radical ‘Ritas, Please” featuring Tades Sanville & Hot Mulligan and “Two Bucks” featuring Eric Egan.
In a statement, Ryan Bluhm spoke about the band’s creative mission for To Live And Die In The American South.
“We were going for something a little bit more polished,” said Bluhm. “Not everyone is necessarily into screaming emo music, so we wanted to make things a bit more digestible.”
