Here’s Everything We Know About: Reggie Becton’s Album ‘The Last Great American Summer’

Last year, Reggie Becton treated fans to the EP Sadboy, Vol. 2. However, it has been nearly four whopping years since Becton shared a full-length project. Well, this Friday, September 19, Becton’s follow-up to 2021′California will arrive.

The Last Great American Summer, Reggie Becton’s long-awaited sophomore album, will close out the warmer months and, at the same time, kick off a hot streak of new musical evolution.

Becton’s lead singles “Die Young” and “DND” emphasize his creative growth since his debut release. The Last Great American Summer will more thoroughly demonstrate that musical growth (songwriting, vocally, and production).

In a statement shared with ENVERT, Reggie Becton shared insight into the forthcoming project.

“This album is about me defining life and success on my own terms,” Becton said. “While making this project, I wanted to burn every belief that was ever ‘given’, ‘taught’, and/or ‘preached’ to me about life and music. I wanted to learn myself, create music, and live life at my own pace and forge a perspective I could truly call my own”.

He continued: “This project is ‘Future Nostalgia’; me writing from a place of being I hope to one day reach… “free living with the absence of fear.”

Becton teased a few special guest features on the album. But they will need to wait until its release for that tidbit of information. As for collaborators he is willing to disclose, Etienne served as The Last Great American Summer‘s executive producer.

On “Die Young,” Grammy Award-winner Khris Riddick-Tynes served as co-producer.
While Dustin Bowie helped to co-write “DND.” Becton’s longtime collaborator, Dey Stegall. Elsewhere on the body of work, Alex Goldblatt, Al Sherrod Hambert, Oscar nominees Simon Jay and Luke Shrersta, as well as The Budapest Orchestra, are credited for musical contributions.
