Madi Diaz is by no means a new artist. However, after earning two Grammy Award nominations (Best Folk Album and Best Americana Performance) for her 2024 album, Weird Faith, Diaz earned a heap of new fans.
Now, Diaz is ready to follow up on that critically acclaimed project. This fall, Madi Diaz’s next studio album, Fatal Optimist, will be released for all to enjoy. As an appetizer for what’s to come, Diaz shared its lead single, “Feel Something.”
In a statement shared with ENVERT, Diaz shared the inspiration behind the tune.
“‘Feel Something’ is about the deep yearning and desire to connect,” said Diaz. “It’s the moment when you’re trying to call in the love that was lost. It’s the first single off the album because it has the sense of urgency and panic that I felt at that first moment I noticed I was alone in my relationship.”
Diaz continued previewing the message behind the album. “[Fatal Optimist is about] the innate hope for something magical,” chimed Diaz.
The album’s description, outlined by ANTI-, confirms Fatal Optimist is produced entirely by Madi Diaz alongside Gabe Wax, while Wax mixed the project.
On the records “Hope Less” and “Feel Something,” Jake Weinberg provided additional production. Ruairi O’Flaherty mastered Fatal Optimist at Los Angeles’ Nomograph Mastering.
