Venna has been the dazzling factor in other recording artists’ songs. Now, the musician is ready to stand in the spotlight.
Next month, Venna’s long-awaited debut album, Malik, will be released. While Venna’s musicianship will be on full display, he will be joined by an all-star list of collaborators, including Rocco Palladino, Elijah Fox, AoD, J Warner, Marco Bernardis, and Yussef Dayes.
As a rising jazz star, Venna was sure to bring in vocalists to round out the project. Those musicians include Jorja Smith, Leon Thomas, Smino, MIKE, and CARI.
In a statement, Venna spoke about the origins of Malik.
“The album MALIK was named by my mother 26 years before the album was made,” he said. “A strong name that means king or leader in Arabic. A name that I’ve lived with all my life. A name that my nearest and dearest have called me & a name that I learnt to become.”
He continued: “Throughout the whole process of the album, I’ve had another name that I loved. But I felt like I wasn’t living in my undeniable truth. What better way to live in one’s truth than naming their debut album the name that their mother named them? I present my debut album, ‘Malik.’”
