When you think of summer treats, ice cream and popsicles are usually at the top of the list. However, India Shawn had another finger-licking goody in mind when crafting her latest release, “Cotton Candy Blvd,” featuring Lucky Daye.
On “Cotton Candy Blvd,” India Shawn and Lucky Daye glide listeners into an air of romance you don’t mind being swept up by with every tingly feeling that comes along with it.
Co-written with Alexander Duncan IV, Colin Munroe, Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II, Rudolph O. Catwell II, and Chiiild, “Cotton Candy Blvd” lyrically exemplifies the beauty in flirtatious subtleties.
“Let’s complicate it without a reason / Let’s be more than friends / Tip over the edge / ‘Til we get intoxicated, your body’s speaking / What ain’t broke can bend / Don’t know where we’ll end / ‘Til we begin / Take me up on Sweet Lane down to Sticky Avenue / All the things that we can do / Won’t be long until we get to / Cotton Candy Boulevard,” sings India.
In a statement shared with ENVERT, India spoke about the track in great detail.
“’Cotton Candy Blvd’ is a summer night, a slow drive, and a long-awaited yes,” she proclaimed. “It’s a journey to a place that could be really sweet or could get really sticky.”
She went on to gush about working with Lucky Daye.
“I’ve been waiting just as long as the fans for this dream collab, and it delivers,” said India. “There’s something magical about the way Lucky and I blended on the record. The song is sweet, but it’s got depth – it’s the tension before the kiss, the invitation, and the promise. When I sing ‘I’m more than ready to love,’ I mean it.”
