As a multi-instrumentalist, recording artists, and the co-owner of their own independent record label, music is a part of Sen Morimoto‘s daily life.
The constant immersion that could be overwhelming to some has made Morimoto a sonic sponge. This week, fans will dive into the latest concoction of Sen Morimoto’s musical curiosity.
Morimoto’s upcoming forth studio album, Time Is On Your Side, in their words is a chronological jump between their greatest influences—”‘70s pop, folk and jazz, to ‘90s hip-hop, to modern indie and everything in between.”
The body of work’s lead singles, “Overthinker” and “Chewing Gum,” were just glimpses into this time lapse.
As the follow-up to 2023’s Diagnosis as well as its 2024 spillover B-side BONK!, on Time Is On Your Side, Morimoto find themselves immersed in a challenge to outdo themself and they do.
In a statement shared with ENVERT, Morimoto discussed how the album’s theme of time as a concept helped aid in professional breakthrough.
“I’m not fighting time anymore,” Morimoto said. “I treat it as an ingredient. Some of these songs only needed a pinch – a couple of improvised takes. Others sat for years, like wine in a barrel, until they became equal parts of my past and… more credits.”
While all the songs featured on Time Is On Your Side were written and arranged by Morimoto, the list of collaborations in other creative aspects is vast. Brok Mende and Kaina Castillo (professionally known as KAINA) are credited as producers on the project. Mende mastered the album while Morimoto mixed it. Castillo also vocally credited to the album.
Drummer Ryan Person and guitarist Elijah Bradford’s played on several Time Is On Your Side tracks.

Supporting Tour
On October 15, Morimoto held an advance listening party at Charis Listening Bar. On October 21, another listening will be held at Gracie O’Mallay’s as presented by Album Runs. However, at this time, Sen Morimoto has not yet announced an official tour to support Time Is On Your Side‘s release.
