For six years, Chance The Rapper fans have walked on eggshells. While the “Tree” emcee has remained a fixture in rap through freestyles, guest verses, and spontaneous song drops, Chance has not released a follow-up to 2019’s The Big Day. This Friday, August 15, that will change with Star Line.
But the long-awaited album won’t just be enjoyed on streaming services or the physical media offerings (CDs), today (August 11), Chance The Rapper announced his supporting tour this fall on CBS Mornings.
“Everyone knows my album ‘Star Line’ is coming out on Friday, August 15,” he said. “But I am also excited to announce that I’m going back on tour.”
As part of his And We Back On Tour, Chance The Rapper will make stops in Houston, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, his hometown of Chicago, and more.
Although Chance hasn’t yet shared the album’s official tracklist, he spoke about one of the featured records (“Space & Time”) with Gayle.
“[‘Space & Time’] is probably my most well-written song,” he declared about the tune that debuted on The Voice. “I think it is a very personal song. It is about navigating [my divorce]. And also, kind of giving [myself] a creative way to build a larger story.”
“[Star Line] covers a lot of different areas in my life,” he told host Nate Burleson earlier in the interview. “I’ve covered a lot of ground in the last six years. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in Ghana, West Africa, Jamaica, and different communities around the [United] States collaborating with different artists. I’ve had a bunch of changes in my personal life […] all of that is reflected through the music.”
