Indie soul singer and former reality music show alum Ali Caldwell proves that she’s more than just a “cover artist”. After winning over the hearts of thousands thanks to her appearances on NBC’s The Voice and FOX’s The Four, the New Jersey native was pushed into pop music but she is breaking out of that box with the release of her new single, “Stuck”.
Rooted in the rock soul sound made popular by the late Aretha Franklin which reemerged in the late 2010s by Fantasia, “Stuck” showcases not only Caldwell’s vocal range but her unique ability to genre bend. “Stuck” serves as a sample of what fans can expect to hear on her forthcoming album, 88.
I had a chance to speak with Caldwell about the inspiration behind the track to which she said, “[Stuck] is a fun, confident, and very musical song that moves any musician…and anyone that loves a good live performance.”
Adding, “I wanted to tap into that energy. The same energy I get when people pay money to go see a live show. When people come to see me live I have ONE JOB and that’s to connect! It’s entertaining and makes you want to dance. The horns, the bass line, my goal with [Stuck] was to create the sound from the ‘Ali Caldwell Live’ experience and put it into a fire record.”

Whether I'm popping in to an open mic night or digital crate-digging for hours through my favorite digital streaming platform, finding indie artists is the name then telling their story is the game.
