The premiere festival for electronic DJs has returned. Between May 16 and 18, the Wire Festival will return to Knockdown Center in Queens, New York, for its fourth installment.

International and rising electronic DJs will takeover one of Wire Festival 2025’s four performance stages (including Whole and Ambient). From Friday, May 16, until Sunday, May 18, the venue will be filled with 50 hours of nonstop music.

In the Main Hall, Stage 1 will feature both international and local talent. However, Stage 2 is focused solely on crew takeovers (Berlin’s Pornceptual and Amsterdam’s SPIELRAUM). While the WHOLE stage will carter to the outdoor space. Lastly, the Ambient Stage will offer nightly explorative global electronic sounds.

In addition to the live music element, Wire Festival will host panel discussions in collaboration with Resident Advisor that tackle some of the most pressing issues in electronic music today.

Frequently called a “sonic unicorn” in a city that is celebrated for its bustling – albeit crowded - music scene, Flight Attendant is the kind of band that has listeners getting out of their seats and into their full, upright positions. With their power-pop hooks and infectious energy, this Nashville-based five-some isn’t just ready for take-off; they’re already at cruising altitude, preparing to penetrate the bounds of the Earth’s stratosphere. Serendipitously coming together through similar interests – not the least of which is fine wine - Flight Attendant is comprised of Karalyne Winegarner (Lead Vocals, Keys); Vinny Maniscalco (Vocals, Guitar); Nikki Christie (Vocals, Viola); and Derek Sprague (Drums). A certified sommelier originally from Kansas City, Karalyne met Vinny – an award-winning bartender – while the two were working at a popular Nashville restaurant. Nikki soon joined the team, bringing a new sensibility from her hometown, Los Angeles. It didn’t take long before the three decided to form a band, discovering their shared love of playing music over late-night wine tastings. They soon recruited Derek – their Boston-born, lager-loving drinking buddy – to play drums, and the lineup was complete. Since their inception, Flight Attendant has released a collection of singles including “Man of Chaos,” which was described by several media outlets as one of the best singles of 2020. The band has played sold-out shows in major cities around the world from Nashville to Austin, to Munich, Germany. They have graced the stage of the Tomato Arts Festival, the Nashville Film Festival, and Austin’s famed South by Southwest. Often compared to bands like Haim or Florence and the Machine and influenced by many of their favorites from Christine and the Queens to Trent Reznor to Cage the Elephant - , Flight Attendant continues to reach new heights, particularly when they perform live. “Karalyne commands your attention like Freddie Mercury working the crowd in an arena,” proclaimed Glide Magazine. In 2022, Flight Attendant released their self-titled debut album, produced by Grammy Winning engineer and producer, Charles Yingling. As the band is quickly ascending on the global stage, they continue to release new music in 2023. “We just want to put out better and better stuff,” shares Karalyne. “The more we do it, the more elevated the whole process becomes. We are finally strong enough in our image, sound, and brand that we are ready to take it to the next level.”

Singer and songwriter Tyler Hilton started in music early, the product of a musical family that kept him curious about playing guitar, singing, and performing. By seventeen he was writing his own songs, and had become an open mic fixture in his hometown of Palm Springs, California. In 2000 Hilton wrote, recorded and released an eponymous debut and began to shop it, but it was a chance opportunity that brought his talent to the record execs' attention. That same year an impromptu performance over the phone for KLOS Los Angeles morning personalities Mark and Brian landed Hilton a spot at the station's Christmas concert. The exposure helped catch Maverick Records' ear, and the label signed him soon after. As his music career was progressing, Hilton also looked into acting. He joined the cast of the WB teen drama One Tree Hill in 2004, playing a troubled singer named Chris Keller. Hilton also landed the role of Elvis Presley alongside Joaquin Phoenix' Johnny Cash in the 2005 biopic Walk the Line. One Tree Hill was a great promotional platform for Hilton's Maverick debut, which hit shelves in September 2004. Tracks of Tyler Hilton was an engaging blend of pop and mild Americana influences, led by Hilton's husky, likeable vocals. Singer and actress JoJo is known for her hooky, R&B- and hip-hop-influenced pop music. She rose to fame with her number four Billboard 200 debut, 2004's JoJo, which spawned the hit "Leave (Get Out)." JoJo has remained a chart regular, releasing albums like 2006's The High Road, featuring the platinum-selling single "Too Little Too Late," and 2016's number six Billboard 200 album Mad Love. She also moved into acting, including a starring in 2006's RV with Robin Williams, 2008's Lifetime movie True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet, and on the 2017 TV series Lethal Weapon. While diversifying her career, JoJo's sound has also evolved, as evidenced by her sophisticated fourth album, 2020's Good to Know. Born Joanna Noelle Blagden Levesque in 1990 in Brattleboro, Vermont, JoJo grew up in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where she developed a love of singing by listening to her mother practice hymns. She initially started singing by imitating her mother, but she quickly put her own spin on everything from nursery rhymes to pop tunes. An ad in the paper announcing open auditions for the television show Kids Say the Darndest Things: On the Road in Boston led to the young singer wowing the audience along with the show's host, Bill Cosby, and eventually led to a phone call from Oprah Winfrey offering JoJo a spot on her show. Appearances on talk shows and gospel festivals followed, but it was her appearance on the television show America's Most Talented Kids that brought the call from producer Vincent Herbert. The former Aaliyah, Toni Braxton, and Destiny's Child producer had the young singer signed to Blackground Records and arranged sessions with famed producers like the Underdogs and Soulshock & Karlin. Her platinum-selling eponymous debut album followed in June 2004. Much like photos, songs enable us to relive the most special moments of our lives. Thumbing through the pages of a scrapbook or scrolling through your phone resembles dropping the needle on your favorite record or scouring a playlist. In similar fashion, Vacation Manor crystallize those moments and memories in the echoes of shimmering guitars, glistening keys, upbeat sunny grooves, and iridescent melodies. On their 2021 self-titled full-length debut, Vacation Manor [Nettwerk], the Virginia duo—Nathan Towles [vocals, guitar] and Cole Young [drums]—stitch together shared and personal experiences in a patchwork of vibrant and vivid alternative anthems. “To us, the album feels like looking at photos on your phone from the last few years,” says Nathan. “The music is very experiential. We believe songs are like lifeboats. You use them to get back to shore again. Once you’re there, the song is for whoever needs it next.” Vacation Manor continue to sail those lifeboats back and forth. In 2016, they introduced themselves via the debut Girl, Say EP followed by Everything I Can’t Say Out Loud two years later. Racking up over 60 million streams, they continued to entrance and engage listeners. During 2020, they teased out the album with the Thoughts In Progress, Pt. 1 EP—comprising four songs from the upcoming full-length. Garnering critical acclaim, Atwood Magazine applauded it as “another installment of what Vacation Manor does best – creating songs laden with earworm lyrics and bright sounds.” Over the past two years, they carefully architected this body of work. Vacation Manor retreated to Joshua Tree to record with producer Charlie Stavish before making intermittent trips back and forth to Nashville from February 2020 through September 2020 where they worked with Kyle Cummings. “All of these places and people gave the album different vibes,” Cole goes on. “It made it feel interesting, because there were a lot of peaks and valleys. Nathan and I had been quarantining together in Virginia, because we lived one street away from each other at the time. We would drive to Nashville, go to the studio, and head back to our hotel room. The Pandemic made everything a lot more intense. The good thing was there were no distractions.” After setting the stage with Thoughts In Progress, Pt. 1, they shared the sunny and buoyant “Can’t Run Forever” before dropping the intimate piano-driven “Feel Something.” Opening up the world of Vacation Manor, the single “Parachute” drifts above a steady beat, nostalgic piano, and clean guitar as the vocals flutter from vulnerable verses into a high register hum. “Lyrically, it’s about wanting to trust all the way in a relationship, but you’ve been disappointed so many times that you can’t,” Nathan elaborates. “You always keep an eye on the exit like, ‘I don’t know when I’m going to have to unexpectedly get out of here.’ It’s not a celebration of the feeling. Instead, I’m asking myself, ‘Why is this something I go through?’ The song is essentially the narrator’s struggle.” The album culminates on the introspective melodic bliss of “Ending Credits.” The guitar glows in the background as the vocals reflect the warmth of Nathan’s delivery before he offers a fitting conclusion to this trip. “I was trying to write something that wasn’t too directly about quarantine,” he says. “It was hard to avoid, because you can’t really go anywhere, and everything felt heavier all the time. I live on a street where there are always people running by because there’s an old college on the other side. It was weird for it to be springtime and not see anyone. There was a strange darkness to the moment, but the song has a sad sense of hope.” “It’s a song you might listen to when you’re walking home alone from a bar at the end of the night,” adds Cole. “‘Ending Credits’ is really about missing normalcy. There are so many feelings inside of it.” In the end, all of those feelings make Vacation Manor worth revisiting—much like your favorite photo album. “If you listen to the whole record, I hope it’s like watching a movie you relate to,” Cole leaves off. “Even though we’ve been a band for so long, it encompasses our personal tastes and experiences.” “It’s a culmination of the last seven years, because we started as a garage band and ended up making a record we’re really proud of,” Nathan agrees. “Every part of our collective personality was represented. I’m excited to relive all of the things that led us to make this. It’s Vacation Manor.”

Pictoria Vark’s forthcoming sophomore LP, Nothing Sticks (out March 21st, 2025 on Get Better Records) welcomes new beginnings for both listeners and the Chicago-based artist. After over 150 days on tour in 2022 as her debut album, The Parts I Dread was released, Victoria Park felt untethered, as if simultaneously living two separate realities. “I was 23 and thrust into an abnormal, chaotic, and very public way of living immediately after graduating college with an underdeveloped support network,” she says. “Focusing so heavily on playing live shows–these things with very explicit end dates–made me question if I was right to center my life around something so fleeting, until I realized everything is fleeting.” So she embarked on a journey to encapsulate that feeling through her dynamic, bass guitar-led sound: “This album is a reflection on the way all things end through the lens of being a musician.” As Park assembled a team of producers including herself, Gavin Caine, and Bradford Krieger, Nothing Sticks started to form. Whereas The Parts I Dread was recorded remotely during lockdown, the tracks on Nothing Sticks were taken to Big Nice Studio in Lincoln, RI with head engineer Krieger (Horse Jumper of Love, IAN SWEET). Their combined strengths allowed them to have a focused energy as a production team: multi-instrumentalist Caine served as the primary arranger, Park acted as the executive producer and main vocal producer, and Krieger brought his understanding of the space and gear to influence performances and sound palettes. The result is a sharper sound boasting organic performances and incisive, detailed lyrics. “Everything we want to last, whether it’s a relationship, a moment, a career, or a way of life, will come to an inevitable end. While dark at first glance, I find it to be a more neutral statement; only when we accept it as a fact of life can we imbue our time on Earth with more meaning,” she states. An exploration of the transient nature of life and relationships, her hope is that Nothing Sticks will help listeners let go of things more easily; to realize that life is too short to force things into places that aren’t working; to have more compassion for oneself and others for trying to hold on. But while everything is fleeting, everything on Nothing Sticks adheres together in a captivating, concrete, purposeful way—showing the beauty in inevitability and instability.
