Thanks to a flock of captivating new acts, jazz music is steadily creeping its way back into the mainstream discourse. One of the genre’s freshest faces is Venna.
With an impressive resume of credits on other recording artists’ projects, Venna is stepping into the limelight. This September, Venna will drop his debut album, Malik.
Venna’s latest offering demonstrates just how dynamic the forthcoming is shaping up to be. On Venna’s new single, “Twisting” (co-produced by Marco Bernardis & Yussef Dayes), the musician collaborates with Leon Thomas for a hypnotizing blend of their shared love for R&B and jazz.
“Lipstick on my color / Blooming like a flower / No sign / This journey ain’t for everyone / My trust ain’t just for you / Color blue, color blues in your sky / Still loving me, I don’t know why / The tightrope you’re walking on ain’t stable / I’m trying and willing, but not able,” sings Leon.
When speaking of his forthcoming debut release, Venna opened up about the project on Instagram.
“Malik is the name my mother named me 26 years ago & is the name I’ve been referred to all my life,” he wrote. “This album encapsulates all of my loves and influences in one place & shows another side of my musicianship that we all haven’t seen.”
