The Thing With Feathers Are ‘So Electric’ On Their Gritty Synth-Heavy New Single

Nashville, Tennessee, is filled with recording artists, hence the nickname Music City. However, there’s no act quite like The Thing With Feathers.

Comprised of lead vocalist David Welcsh, guitarist Alex Hendricks, and drummer Chris Roussell, The Thing With Feathers has found the sweet spot between contemporary indie and modern alt-rock with sprinkles of electro-pop.

The Thing With Feathers’ latest single, “So Electric,” produced by Kyle Dreaden, is a wild fusion of their sonic influences. Filled with irresistible pockets of heavy synths, gritty, head-pounding guitar arrangements, and straightforward lyrics, “So Electric” is a much-needed indie rock love song.

“I’m so electric / Burning out / Bad days will never bring me down / Call back again we stole your crowd,” sings David.

In a statement shared with ENVERT, Welsch spoke about the song’s origins.

“This song wasn’t anything we set out trying to do,” he admitted. “All we had were the lyrics and a riff for the longest time. When we originally cut it at Echo Mountain Recording, the song had a completely different arrangement, and it just wasn’t hitting.”

He continued: “It wasn’t until we got back to Nashville and started over from scratch that the song tapped us on the shoulder and showed us what it wanted to be. And it was electric.”
