Swedish band Great Park Avenue are coming in strong! The post-punk inspired trio have just released their second single, “The Rain”, alongside an accompanying music video. After debuting earlier this fall with single, “Blue World”, “The Rain” showsis a slightly different side of the band. The melancholic track that explores love in a way that is warm yet desperate.
The track starts softly, allowing listeners to let down their guard to soothing vocals that take center. The suspenseful verse simmers then explodes once the chorus comes in. Britpop and post-punk meet in an adrenaline-fueled track heavily grounded in the London music scene.
Lyrics such as “you don’t have to leave” juxtaposed with “please don’t make me leave” go a long way in making a point of the uncertainties one must face in a relationship.
When asked about the inspiration behind the lyrics the trio manifested that their songs are open to interpretation stating, “you want the story to be your own, not some guy’s who you’ve never even met”.
