The Minnesota Hip-Hop scene has taken a huge blow! The culturally-respected, nationally-recognized and independently-produced festival, Soundset, will not be held this year.
A staple in the community since 2008 was the brainchild of the locally-based label, Rhymesayers Entertainment. An official statement was released on the festival’s social media to detail the decision.
The letter opens, “following twelve successful years, we are officially announcing today that Soundset will not take place in 2020,” adding, “since 2008, we have refused to compromise on any detail on Soundset, upholding the highest standards to provide fans, artists, partners, and crew with an exceptional experience. In 2020, we will focus that same love and dedication on a celebration event for the Rhymesayers 25th Anniversary set to take place later this year.”
