New York City-based indie rock band Sir Chloe’s most recent single, “July,” utilizes their signature sound of distorted guitars and reverb drenched vocals to create a dreamy, trance-like lo-fi product. Started during their senior year at Bennington College, front woman Dana Foote formed Sir Chloe when she decided to put on a concert instead of a more traditional senior thesis assignment. With her brother Palmer Foote on drums, producer Teddy O’Mara on guitar, and Austin Holmes on bass, Sir Chloe is a healthy mix of Bikini Kill, Hole, and Beach Bunny.

The standout drumming on “July” keeps the listener bobbing their head in sync with the song. Foote’s vocals beautifully washing over the listener, ensures that the universal message of heartbreak is etched into their mind. While the theme of loss remains relatable, the story told within the lyrics comes across as uniquely distinct.

Sir Chloe paints the narrative within, singing,“I don’t know why / I’m fighting but you’re stronger than I am tonight / can’t say goodbye / you’re prettier than anything I’ve seen in my whole life,” and “in late July, in late July / I was so happy I could cry / I can’t remember why / in late July you said goodbye.”

“July” checks off all the musical boxes as it is both incredibly catchy and heart wrenchingly alluring. The single is a great stand alone track, but also serves as a strong preview of Sir Chloe’s future album.

Sir Chloe is a promising act in the indie rock band scene you will want to keep your ears open for.  Listen to “July” by Sir Chloe below! Don’t forget to tell us what you think below in the comment section!
