Since his breakout record-setting single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Shaboozey has continued to blaze a trail in country music. That firestorm followed the chart-topping musician all the way to the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Yesterday (February 1), Shaboozey took home the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance — his first. The musician’s Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going: The Complete Edition Deluxe single, which features Jelly Roll, snatched the trophy from some stiff competition, including Miranda Lambert & Chris Stapleton’s “A Song To Sing,” Reba McEntire’s “Trailblazer” with Miranda Lambert, and Lainey Wilson, Margo Price & Tyler Childers‘ “Love Me Like You Used To Do,” and George Strait’s “Honky Tonk Hall Of Fame” featuring Chris Stapleton.
Although he could not be joined by his collaborator, Jelly Roll, onstage to receive the honor, Shaboozey had enough passion for both of them. During his untelevised acceptance speech fought back tears while accepting the honor.
“Dear God, I just want to say thank you,” Shaboozey opened. “Nothing is possible without you, Your love and will preserves me through it all. I also want to thank my mother, who as of today, has retired from her job after 30 years working in the medical field as a registered nurse in the psych ward. She worked three to four jobs just to provide for me and my four siblings as an immigrant in this country. Thank you, mom.”
He continued: “Immigrants built this country, literally. So this is for them. For all children of immigrants, this is also for those who came to this country in search of better opportunities, to be part of a nation that promised freedom for all and equal opportunity to everyone willing to work for it. Thank you for bringing your culture, your music, your stories, and your traditions. You give America color, I love y’all so much. Thank you.”
