The award session across the pond has nearly begun. The 2024 AIM Awards nominations have been revealed. Well, at least the first round of nominees was shared. On October 17, this year’s ceremony is set to take place inside London’s legendary venue, Roundhouse.
So far, Jorja Smith, Sampha, and Ezra Collective lead the pack with two nominations each. Sampha’s official visual for “Only” is up for Best Independent Video. His song “Spirit 2.0” is nominated in the Best Independent Track category, where it will face off against Ezra Collective’ “Ajala” and Jorja Smith’s “Little Things,” among others. Jorja Smith also snagged a nomination for Best Independent Album (Falling Or Flying). The L BEATS Mashup version of her song “Little Things” is up for Best Independent Remix. Ezra Collective and Sampa The Great’s version of “JOY” has also been nominated for Best Independent Remix.
As far as independent record labels are concerned, Ninja Tune has secured the most nominations for its roster (four total) thanks to releases from Actress, Barry Can’t Swim, Nabihah Iqbal, and George Riley. EGA Distro, XL Recordings, and Heavenly Recordings hold tight to the second spot, with three acts nominated each.
The 2024 AIM Awards poll closes on September 2 at 11:59 BST. Find more information here. To view the complete nomination list so far, continue below.
