New Jersey-based recording artist and producer Samad Savage is back with a new full-length album, Trust The Weird Kids. On the 10-track project, Samad is truly “coming to terms with his life experience” while helping others do the same.
The self-produced led single, “So”, is a pleasant deviation from his signature sound. The rapper turns in his hard-hitting Hip-Hop bass lines for a lighter dance track while paying tribute to his hometown sound.

I had a chance to catch up with the Montclair native to ask about the inspiration of the track to which he replied, “self-love needs to be talked about beyond the point of just saying the phrase. That’s the reason I made this song, It’s a them song for those who are or are striving to live a life of self-love. The chords are also from the late great 2pac’s ‘Get Around’ record. I know because I produced it haha.“
Later adding, “the video is more for Afro-American women who are put down the most in media, but ‘so what’ is what we’ll use against the status quo. KevWithTheCam helped me pick the beautiful diverse women, directed and edited the inspiring visuals.”

Whether I'm popping in to an open mic night or digital crate-digging for hours through my favorite digital streaming platform, finding indie artists is the name then telling their story is the game.
