Nashville-based indie pop singer and songwriter Sam Soto proved he was one to watch in the indie-pop scene with the release of the track, “Cherry Soda”. Quoted as drawing inspiration from acts such as Jack Johnson and Daft Punk, on new single, “Bittersweet” it’s undeniable that Soto’s quirky songwriting style and unique vocals lean more towards Bruno Mars and Mike Posner.
Soto’s native Southern California airiness makes even the most difficult topics to discuss yet alone sing along oddly with light-hearted.
When asked about the inspiration behind the track, Soto replied, “[Bittersweet] is a happy-sad song about losing and finding love. It reflects the freedom and excitement that comes from the end of an era, while still grappling with bits of sadness and remorse for something lost.”
