Following the success of her 2020 album, The Sharecropper’s Daughter (Rhymesayers Entertainment), veteran indie rap star and auteur Sa-Roc returns with a deluxe re-release.   The 6 new tracks include some groovy B-sides, as well as the one of the last posthumous features from fellow underground veteran MF DOOM. The project’s lead single “Wild Seeds” now has an accompanying visual.

“Wild Seeds” revolves around a sample from one of Sa-Roc and hip-hop’s greatest influences, Andre 3000 on Outkast’s 1997 radio hit, “Rosa Parks”. “I met a Gypsy and she hipped me to some life game,” says Andre 3000, originally referring to R&B Oracle and then partner Erykah Badu except here, the “gypsy” is Sa-Roc whose mind-bending lyrics certainly fit the title. The song rides over a suitably trippy beat with warping vocals and liquid horn tones, meeting Sa-Roc on her psychedelic vibe as she contemplates her past, popularity, and prosperity.

The music video displays Sa-Roc’s images of success, showing her and various other Black women in a majestic mansion and adorned in regal outfits. The colors are warm and dreamlike, matching the chameleonic beat while also contrasting Sa-Roc’s husky delivery.
