The year is just barely underway, and RAYE has already accomplished several major feats. To start, the “Where Is My Husband” singer was awarded the Grammy’s non-competitive Harry Belafonte Best Song for Social Change Award.
RAYE’s gut-wrenching track “Ice Cream Man,” which stands up against sexual assault, served as a cathartic release. In many ways, RAYE’s entire debut album, My 21st Century Blues, was crafted wth the same purpose, with her live shows expanding that storytelling.
With a new set of headlining dates on the horizon and her joining Bruno Mars’ The Romantic Tour, RAYE has more story to tell. After much anticipation, RAYE announced her sophomore studio album, This Music May Contain Hope.
Although the tracklist has not yet been rolled out, Apple Music’s library listing confirms 17 total songs, including lead single “Where Is My Husband.” While the remaining details, such as features and producers, are being kept underwraps in a statement shared with ENVERT, RAYE outlined the inspiration behind her upcoming body of work.
“Music is medicine, I’ve always said that,” said RAYE. “I guess I’m in the process of making medicine for myself that I can share with the world. I want us all to say to ourselves that it’s going to be all right, and I’m going to have faith in the seeds that I’ve planted beneath the snow. I wanted to create something that is a hug, a bed, or a soft place for that person who needs it.”
