Samad Savage has been regarded as one of the most dominating independent emcees coming out of New Jersey. For years, the Montclair native has grown a cult-like following thanks to his many viral freestyles in addition to his original releases, including 2021’s Duo-Litty.
Going into the next stage of his career, Savage took to social media to announce that he will be partnering with Def Jam imprint Varick St thanks to the deal they inked.
“I work so hard and still can’t believe I deserve these things. Signed my first deal with Varick St of Def Jam. I prayed hard for these kinds it blessings. Grateful to firstly God, Wes, Owen, Noah, and my family that’s been the support system and inspiration I can always count on,” wrote Savage in a post shared on his official Instagram page.
The “Good Night” rapper shared more details about the partnership with fans in his e-newsletter. “[I’ve signed] a distribution deal. This means that I still own all of my masters! I also don’t have an overwhelming advance, which means I owe the label nothing but 20% of the projects we’ve agreed to work on. While they pay for everything, I need to push the music with a HUGE marketing budget,” explained Savage.
Samad Savage is currently working on a new project. This will mark his debut on the label.
