There’s a brewing Midwest movement in the independent Hip-Hop scene and Detroit emcee Nappi Devi wants parts in the wave. The Michigan rapper’s latest EP Nappiii proves exactly why he’s one of the area’s budding new talents.
The 3-track project featuring production by Beckem the 4th and Bvtman is a refreshing return to the core of Hip-Hop, raw lyricism, seen especially on standout track, “Note To Self”. I had a chance to ask the rapper about the inspiration behind the track to which he simply replied, “I created [Note To Self] from frustration & discomfort. I was dealing with a lot of negative energy from different individuals in my life. Both family & people I once considered friends. All that tense emotion create that aggressive, raw vibe. I’ve been a healthy and respectable person to those who talked down on me & treated me like shit!”
Adding, “[Note to Self] is that anger pushed all the way in the back of the skull because you’re tryna be the bigger & better person, all expressed in one track!”
