In hip-hop the “blog era” (from 2007 to 2014) is long considered to be the golden age of mixtape releases. However, rising acts breaking through in the years following did not drop the ball. This is especially true for the 2010s Chicago rap movement.
Thanks to 2016’s Telefone, Noname became one of the leaders of this pack. She then turned those regional ripples into nationwide acclaim. To celebrate the groundbreaking mixtape, the “Shadow Man” rapper will perform the project live in concert.
Over on Instagram, Noname announced the 17-date ten-year anniversary tour of Telefone across North America.
“I hope you were there,” wrote Noname. “I hope 10 years ago, in some small corner of the world, you heard the imagination of young folks from the city of Chicago.”
Noname continued, “‘Telefone’ was already breathing when I discovered it. It sat, quietly whispering to me between every blunt rotation outside YouMedia, after every conversation with Cam about the texture of sound, after I lived along enough to sing about it. ‘Telefone’ was raised by a community.”
She closed by thanking her Telefone collaborators.
“‘Telefone’ is a place I hope many of us felt welcomed into,” wrote Noname. “Cam, Saba, Ravyn Lenae, Joseph Chilliams, Phoelix, Smino, Monte Booker, Akenya, Raury, Xavier Omar, The MIND, Brian Sanborn, Luke Titus, Eryn Allen Kane, Nikko Washington, Elton (and Chance for allowing me to record during his personal sessions when I was broke). I LOVE YOU ALL DEEPLY.”
The ten-year anniversary Telefone Tour will make stops in Toronto, New York City, Atlanta, Houston, and more major cities. Along the run, Noname is set to appear at several music festivals, including Richmond Jazz Festival 2026, Bumbershoot Festival 2026, and Pitchfork Festival – London 2026. At this time, Noname has not announced any supporting acts.
