‘Please Have A Seat,’ It’s Clearly NNAMDÏ’s Time To Shine

Rest is good for the soul and multi-instrumentalist NNAMDÏ knows this all too well. After stamping himself in the independent music scene with the release of his fourth studio album BRAT in 2020, the Chicago-based songwriter hit the road hard with a massive tour schedule to share his unique sound across the country.

In what seems like an effortless blend of genres including math rock, indie pop and alternative hip-hop, NNAMDÏ has carved a lane all his own and his new album, Please Have A Seat (via Secretly Canadian/Sooper Records) is no different.

The 14-track project written, produced, and performed entirely himself, Please Have A Seat is sonically disorientating yet spiritually balanced. Birthed out of the forced stillness many of us experienced with the COVID-19 pandemic, as he details, “each song came from a moment of clarity.”

I realized I never take time to just sit and take in where I’m at,” says NNAMDÏ adding, “It’s just nice to not be on ‘Go, Go, Go!’ mode, and reevaluate where I wanted to go musically,” and what he landed on his his strongest showing to date.

To share the album with fans, NNAMDÏ will be hitting the road for both a North American and European tour. I had a chance to catch up NNAMDÏ to ask what fans could expect from the tour to which he replied, “I am excited to arrange these songs for live performance and to build in all sorts of crowd participation and performative elements that are sure to bring a great time for all. I am excited to see people at my shows and play this album for everyone!”

The North American tour consisting of 15-stops will kick off on Tuesday, October 18 in Davenport, Iowa at The Raccoon Motel. Rising alternative rapper Joshua Virtue will join NNAMDÏ as official support for the entirety of the tour with guest appearances by Moontype, Daphne Jane, Thanya Iyer, Alicia Walter, Pink Navel, Twelve25, Volunteer Department, Green Apples, and Sunguh.
