Neon Gold Releases Compilation for 10th Year Anniversary

Derek Davies and Lizzy Plapinger of Neon Gold Records

This week marks exactly ten years since the birth of Neon Gold Records, who took their first steps into the world with the release of Passion Pit’s debut single “Sleepyhead” in September 2008. To mark the occasion, frequent Neon Gold collaborator Young & Sick releases a “Sleepyhead” cover today, premiered via Stereogum here. It’s the latest cut off the label’s forthcoming 10th anniversary compilation, NGX: Ten Years of Neon Gold, a unique retrospective compiling rarities, exclusives and covers from the label’s illustrious family tree of artists out September 28th a day ahead of their anniversary concert at Knockdown Center. The compilation was launched with the release of three songs earlier this month. Matt Maeson teamed up with VÉRITÉ for a brand new rendition of his breakout song “Tribulation” (premiered via Billboard here), The Knocks’ delivered a fresh 2018 update of their debut single “Make It Better” (premiered via FLOOD here) and the newest signing to the Neon Gold family Broods paid tribute to Gotye with “Eyes A Mess”, their medley cover of the Grammy award winning Australian’s “Eyes Wide Open” and “Hearts A Mess”.

When asked about celebrating their anniversary, founder of Neon Gold Records, Derek Davies said, “one of the best things about reaching a milestone like this is taking the opportunity to look back and celebrate all the incredible artists we’ve been fortunate enough to work with over the years, and we had a lot of fun putting together the NGX compilation, which will feature a number of rare and exclusive tracks from some of our biggest acts, as well as a number of our newer artists covering some of our flagship earlier releases.”

Take a listen to Young & Sick’s cover of Passion Pit’s “Sleephead” below! Grab your tickets to Neon Gold X: 10th Year Anniversary concert on Saturday, September 28th at Knockdown Center here.
