Mary J. Blige is searching for a real love. But it appears that rising R&B singer and songwriter Nate Curry has found it. To showcase his immense sense of pride in his marriage, Curry linked up with producer ClayDough to convert this blissful feeling into a song.
On “Going On Ten,” Nate Curry and ClayDough work as if they are Cupid’s sonic dream team. As Curry gently pulls poetic snapshots of the fondest moments in his romantic partnership thus far, ClayDough pulls in the gentlest instrumentation to keep Curry on cloud nine.
“Sh*t, huh, damn / 10 of ’em, 10 of ’em, 10 of ’em b*tches / Double digits / no intermission / Me and my, me and my, me and my Mrs. / Still look at you the same as the first day / Don’t see a difference,” sings Curry, to open the track.
Yesterday producer Claydough & I released an incredible record titled “Going On Ten”. The song was done live but came out so good that we decided to release it on DSP’s. It basically highlights my wife & I’s journey through our 10 year relationship & was made around our anniversary.
Although “toxic R&B” maintains a stronghold on the genre’s listeners, with every release of his growing discography, Nate Curry continues to chip away at chauvinistic records currently flooding the market.
Nate Curry and ClayDough’s “Going On Ten” is not only an endearing anniversary gift. The track is also an assuring reminder that romance isn’t a fantasy found solely in a children’s film but rather an obtainable reality once egos are slain.
In a statement shared with ENVERT, Curry spoke about the creative origins of “Going On Ten.”
“The song was [recorded] live,” said Curry. “But [it] came out so good that [Clay and I] decided to release it on DSPs.”
He continued, “[‘Going On Ten’] basically highlights my wife & I’s journey through our 10 year relationship & was made around our anniversary.”

Whether I'm popping in to an open mic night or digital crate-digging for hours through my favorite digital streaming platform, finding indie artists is the name then telling their story is the game.
