After battling leaks, in 2023, Mitski took back control over her creative works releasing album, The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We. Shortly after, in 2024, the “My Love Mine All Mine” singer embarked on their most ambitious tour to date.
With guest appearances by Tamino, Sunny War, Julia Jacklin, Sarah Kinsley, Cowboy Junkies, Lamp, Arlo Parks, Ethel Cain, Laufey, and Wyatt Flores, Mitski’s The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We Tour was an immersive experience of the album.
Now, fans are invited to relive Mitski’s tour in a cinema near them thanks to a partnership with Trafalgar Releasing. Directed by Grant James and produced by Moniker Films & Good Harbor Music in association with Working Class Films as well as Mitski’s record label Dead Oceans, The Land will hit theaters on October 22.
The limited release will showcase Mitski’s memorizing three nights run at Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia alongside their seven-piece band on the stage designed by Andi Watson. While the recordings featured in the film are taken from the live performances, Mitski’s longtime producer Patrick Hyland did step in for additional mixing.
In a statement shared with Variety, Trafalgar Releasing’s CEO, Marc Allenby gushed about the upcoming concert film.
“Mitski is a visionary artist and a compelling performer and her first concert film is just as special,” said Allenby. “It’s a privilege to bring this film to cinemas and Mitski fans around the world.”
