Maiya The Don broke onto rap fans’ radar in 2022 when she released her viral single “Telfy.” Then in 2023, the Brooklyn emcee leaned into the momentum, releasing her debut studio album, Hot Commodity, via RCA Records.
Since then Maiya The Don has further etched her legacy, one freestyle, single, and collaboration at a time. Now three years removed from her inaugural album, Maiya The Don is ready to showcase how much her artistry has grown.
Over on Instagram, Maiya The Don announced her forthcoming album, Precious Cargo (on her new independent label home MNRK Records), and shared its official tracklist.
Among the tracklist are previously released singles, “Let’s Be Clear,” “Miss Irresponsible,” and “TEN.”
In a statement shared on Instagram, Maiya The Don spoke about the personal and professional journey leading up to Precious Cargo.
“I almost can’t believe that this post is finally happening,” wrote Maiya. “My project is finally coming. It’s been 3 years since my last full body of work. 1095 days. So much life has happened since then. Precious cargo explains it all.”
Maiya continued, “To my MAFIA! So many of you have been here since the makeup days. I can’t express what that means to me. This is for you. For everyone who still listens to telfy. For everyone who asks me about 222. Support new and old. I value you. I take you serious and never for granted.
La Bella Donna came back for you. And to be clear, this run is personal.”
