Canadian singer-songwriter LOONY‘s new EP soft thing, fuses neo-soul and alternative R&B style to create this candidly lush project. This new concept project arrives a year after her previous EP JOYRiDE with producers Adam Ponang and Noah ’40′ Shebbib protégée Akeel.

Following the release of the EP, LOONY shares the inspiration that sparked it all,’“I found myself re-evaluating what’s important to me. Being isolated from people makes you think more about your relationships. It’s been a hard and very strange year and in a lot of ways and I’ve been forced to be more vulnerable than I’d ever been. soft thing is symbolic of that.”

From the magnetic opening track, “beg,” which draws on gospel with its rich choir vocalization backed by LOONY’s emotive lyrics expressing her unwillingness to beg for someone’s affection. Even though she wants it at the fear that she’s imagined the connection. To the soulful tracks, “raw” and “faceless,” which LOONY revealed were about the first time she felt, “the purest thing of love which I’ve never really felt before. It’s like when you actually truly see someone for who they are, and they see you too. And it’s not a scary thing. It’s a beautiful thing”.

Listening to ‘soft thing’ it is safe to say the creative dedication involved in creating this linear story that lies at the heart of this concept project exploring love in its many forms is felt more and more with every listen.
