Indie pop singer and songwriter Lexxi Saal may be a newbie but I’m sure you’ve heard her a time or two before even in passing. Between her writing credits on songs with Ava Max and having her vocals featured on shows like Dynasty & Grey’s Anatomy, the Los-Angeles based talent is carving a lane for herself. With what can now be considered to be her signature sultry vocals and dramatic delivery, Lexxi is arguably one of the most promising new faces in soulful pop music.
Fresh off the release of EP Variant II, Lexxi Saal teams up with producer Rob Ellmore for new single “Bang!”. Blending together elements of doo-wop, rock, and soul, “Bang!” is an irresistible cross between Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” and Duffy’s “Mercy”.
From the suspenseful opening piano, prominent guitar solo, and drama-filled lyrics, “Bang!” is a modern interpretation of the melodrama pop era. A sound made popular by the 1960s groups The Shangri-Las and others.
When speaking on the creation of the track Lexxi shared, “the writing process for ‘Bang!’ was so fun. It felt like I was letting go and being unapologetic while recording and writing,” adding, “the vocals lay on a really special part of my voice, showing off soul and spice at the same time. I’m so excited that it’s out in the world!”
