Broadway meets Runway in the fiercest event of the season. That’s the bold claim made in the promotional materials of CATS: The Jellicle Ball.
The musical production commanded Off-Broadway, but come next week it is ready to take over Broadway. With the crossover beginning on March 18, CATS: The Jellicle Ball will also undergo casting expansions. Ballroom Icon Leiomy Maldonado is among the production’s cast, which marks her Broadway debut in the role of Macavity.
The full cast includes Broadway legend André De Shields (Old Deuteronomy), Kenneth “Ken” Ard (DJ Griddlebone), Kya Azeen (Etcetera), Bryson Battle (Jellylorum), Jonathan Burke (Mungojerrie), Baby Byrne (Victoria), Sydney James Harcourt (Rum Tum Tugger), Dava Huesco (Rumpleteazer), Dundney Joseph (Munkustrap), Junior LaBeija (Gus The Theatre Cat), Robert “Silk” Mason (Magical Mister Mistoffelees), “Tempress” Chasity Moore (Grizabella), Primo Thee Ballerino (Tumblebrutus), Xavier Reyes (Jennyanydots), Nora Schell (Bustopher Jones), Bebe Nicole Simpson (Demeter), Emma Sofia (Cassandra/Skimbleshanks), Garnet Williams (Bombalurina), and Teddy Wilson Jr. (Sillabub).
Swings include Sherrod T. Brown, Bryce Farris, Phumzile Sojola, Kendall Grayson Stroud, B Noel Thomas, and Donté Nadir Wilder. Tara Lashan Clinkscales, and Kalyun West are ensemble cast members.
Jellicle Ball will begin previews at Broadhurst Theater on March 18, 2026. The show will open April 7. In addition to all of the ballroom names, De Shields will return as Old Deuteronomy in addition to cast members like Jonathan Burke (Mungojerrie) and Sydney James Harcourt (Rum Tum Tugger). Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch will also direct the production.
