Indie rap star LATASHA made her name in gritty New York City underground Hip-Hop scene with her powerful lyricism, corky creativity, and undeniable stage presence. Now, the Brooklyn native is challenging her own artistry with new single, “Crush” produced by Ircasim. Trading in her witty bars for jazzy vocals, LATASHA continues to showcase just how multifaceted she is.
LATASHA teamed up with filmmaker Jahmel Reynolds for “Crush”‘s official video which premiered on Brain Wash. “Crush” is the exact opposite of her 2018 smash video for “GLO Up” (which was listed in of 2018 Indie Video of the Year recap). Outside of LATASHA staple catalog, on “Crush” she trades in those hard-hitting bass lines fans have grown to expect from her for the delicate strokes of the piano.
Reynolds’ elegantly captures this contrast in highlighting that while feminity can be loud, fierce and unapologetic, it is also soft, vulnerable and nurturing.

Whether I'm popping in to an open mic night or digital crate-digging for hours through my favorite digital streaming platform, finding indie artists is the name then telling their story is the game.
