After releasing her debut single “I Can’t Tell”, Los Angeles native singer and songwriter Kristiane surprised fans with “Wish I Could Be Your Girl”. With a mix of feel-good energy and meaningful lyrics, this is the dreamy pop single you won’t be able to shake.
Not feeling comfortable in your skin? Wishing you were someone else? Well, you’re in luck. This was the inspiration behind the single. The upbeat track is an intimate peek into Kristiane’s head. In the end, we see Kristiane grow confident in herself, like the heroine of a coming of age movie. “Wish I could Be Your Girl” is a tale about self-acceptance wrapped in teenage fantasy, fuzzy guitars, and honeyed vocals.
Kristiane mentioned that despite what anyone might think, the track isn’t about wanting to be someone’s girl. Rather, it’s about “wanting to fit the archetype of the kind of partner that’s easy to be with, uncomplicated. I think as someone who struggles with mental health it’s easy to demonize your emotions, instead of embracing that it’s okay to be someone with a complicated history/emotions”, she said.
