New York City-based indie group, Kid Sistr (Sabel, Sara Keden, and Rebecca Webster) is taking on the world one live show at a time! The budding rockers are giving the fans that grew fond of their performances two shining new original singles, “Dallas” and Little Sister Song”. The trio showcases their cultivated skills on the precursors to what is gearing up to be a strong debut album.

Released in early June, “Little Sister Song” is an energetic homage to the role of younger siblings and the teenage mentality. Opening with a filter heavy phone recording, the song immediately taps into a retro vibe, harkening back to 2000’s era rom-com soundtracks. Kid Sistr takes this easily cliched style and makes it their own by adding Beach Boy inspired harmony layers and rocking drum fills. A short yet fulfilling track, “Little Sister Song” builds on the Pussy Riot sound of today while creating vibrant characters through witty and to-the-point lyrical play.

The group’s second release, “Dallas” highlights their ability to bounce between wildly different moods with ease. While “Little Sister Song” plays with candy and grit, “Dallas” takes a sensually luscious turn. Kid Sistr uses dreamy pop-synth keys and sultry bass lines floating behind their vocals, stacked in rich octaves, to create a flirtatious dance with their subject. The lyrics, delivered by Sabel and Keden, are the icing on top, as they sing, “Dallas / if you want my soul baby you can have it / you can take control / you’re a two-time first prize winner / take it home to the backyard porch light / breathing in the smoke / do you want me?” For lovers of moody Prince influences or tunes following in the wake of Daniel Caesar’s “Best Part”, “Dallas” will be your next obsession.
