Touring for any artist is an overwhelming undertaking. In today’s musical climate, these strains appear to have been amplified. Last month, independent recording artist and songwriter Inayah faced this harsh reality when she announced the postponement of her highly anticipated Therapy Wasn’t Enough Tour.
After taking time to recalibrate, the “Outside” singer took to Instagram to unveil her freshly rescheduled show dates. The now 10-date Therapy Wasn’t Enough Tour run will kick off on November 2 in Detroit at the El Club. On December 3, the tour will wrap up in Los Angeles at the Blue Note Jazz Club.
Although Inayah managed to lock in the new performance slots rather quickly, several cities have been dropped from the schedule. New Orleans, Louisiana; San Francisco, California; Birmingham, Alabama; and Orlando, Florida are all notably absent from the updated tour poster.
In a video message shared on Instagram (viewable here), Inayah did not address the tour’s downsizing. However, she made it clear that if previous ticket holders could not make the new dates, refunds would be given.
The postponement happened back on September 7, when the tour was set to launch in Chicago. With a lengthy and vulnerable note, Inayah hinted that health concerns as well as “unavoidable” family matters had played a role in pushing the show back.
“There’s been so much uncertainty with the execution of my tour along with important health and family matters that are just unavoidable,” wrote Inayah. “As a result, I’ll be moving my tour to November.”
Inayah went on to thank fans for their support.
“I’m beyond grateful for the way all of y’all are showing up and buying tickets, and spending your hard-earned money to support me,” added Inayah. “I don’t take that for granted, and I hope you can feel my heart when I say I am truly, truly sorry to alter your plans.”
