The musical talent brewing across the pond is undeniable! From R&B singers, jazz vocalists, to Hip-Hop and grime lyricists, London is quickly becoming the go-to hub to discover new indie artists. London-based and Thamesmead-born singer, songwriter, and rapper ENNY is certainly amongst that talent pool.
After finding international success with her breakout single, “Peng Black Girls” featuring Amia Brave followed by the remix featuring Jorja Smith, everyone around the world has their eyes glued to ENNY. Gearing up for her forthcoming debut EP (not yet named) on label FAMM she’s dropping a new single, “I Want” with accompanying video.
Produced by Paya, “I Want” at its core is a song about fierce declaration. On the track, ENNY runs down the list of her desires for a musical career, thriving romantic relationship, and financial stability. While skeptics may not see this as possible, ENNY is unwavering in her ambitions. “I Want” is a lighthearted summer breeze baked with encouragement for those chasing their dreams manifested by London’s next big superstar.
When asked about the track ENNY replied, “this tune is deffo a significant song in my musical journey as it was the first song that Paya and I made together. We had no expectation, just vibes, London and some wavy weather. I hope this tune paints more of a picture into the world I’m coming from and the story of the EP. This is one to bubble to and motivate you to get up and get what you want!!”
The video directed Asher Kosher does a great job in showcasing the track’s theme. The visual opens with ENNY working as a waitress daydreaming about leaving to pursue her dreams. In later scenes we see her riding along with friends worryless in a vintage old school car. This scene highlights that on her road to success ENNY wants to ensure those closest to her remain in the spots, to the left and right of her.
