Hip-Hop Photographer Ernie Paniccioli to Receive Inspiring Artist Award

Arts empowerment organization Inspired Artist Movement will honor legendary Hip-Hop photographer and author Ernie Paniccioli with the Inspiring Artist award as part of the organization’s 3rd Annual Inspired Artist Movement Conference on Sunday, October 1, 2017 beginning at 1 pm at Nimbus Dance Works’ studio located at 165 Newark Avenue in Jersey CIty, New Jersey.

Ernie Paniccioli is an American photographer of hip hop culture. A Cree Native American, he grew up in Brooklyn, New York. His photography of hip hop began in the 1970s with shots of graffiti in New York. The Hip Hop journalist Kevin Powell encouraged Paniccioli to make a book and in 2002, Who Shot Ya? : Three Decades of Hip-Hop Photography was published. Paniccioli’s work has appeared in various magazines over a 30-year period including Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, The Source and Time featuring artists such as Jay Z, Lauryn Hill, Public Enemy, the Notorious B.I.G., Tupac and more.

The 3rd Annual Inspired Artist Movement Conference will present several panels including Inspirations of a Girlboss, I AM Entrepreneur, Issa Glow Up and fireside chat, It’s Bigger Than Hip Hop with honoree Ernie Paniccioli. The artist and photography exhibition featuring Womanly Magazine, To Him Project, and a snippet of Ernie Paniccioli’s photography featured in his 2002 book, Who Shot Ya. The evening will end with musical performances by Thread Imprint’s recording artist Ezrakh, singer Sadé Emoni, singer and producer JMR JCBS featuring a special guest DJ set by Bizz Nice.
