For some time now, Halima has been steadily building their discography. Recently, some of that groundwork has been part of the creative collective FACTORY (which consists of Halima, Von, Murielle, and Sophie Hintze).
But Halima is sure not to neglect their solo works. Next month, Halima’s long-awaited debut album, Sweet Tooth, will officially be shared with the world.
In a statement inserted into the album’s liner notes, Halima outlined its creative origins. Halima starts with the project’s mantra, “Sweetness on my terms.”
Halima continued: “The album is about the journey to reclaim one’s self amidst the chaos of life and ultimately acts as a love letter to the pleasures and pains of these human pursuits. Am I the person that I wanted to grow into becoming? I think so. I’ve given myself permission to be free of those things. To be bold. To take up space.”
Although Halima has remained tight-lipped about collaborators, Halima confirmed that, in addition to their self-production, Mikey Freedom Hart co-produced on Sweet Tooth.
